300 Series Stainless Steel
The 300 series are austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels — the most widely used stainless family in the world, hardenable only by cold working. Grade 304 is the industry workhorse, offering the best balance of corrosion resistance, formability and price.
Grade 316/316L adds 2–3%molybdenum for superior resistance to chlorides and process chemicals, making it the default for pharmaceutical, marine and chemical service. The “L” grades carry lower carbon to prevent carbide precipitation during welding, so welded fabrications retain full corrosionresistance without post-weld annealing.
For heat, 310 serves continuously up to ~1100°C, while titanium-stabilized 321 handles cyclic temperatures between 400–800°C. 317L’s higher molybdenum suits FGD and bleach plant duty. DML maintains ready Mumbai stock across all these grades in coils, sheets, plates, pipes, bars and fittings.

Application
The 300 series consist of austenitic chromium-nickel alloys. This creates superior corrosion resistance and ease of fabrication. Austentic stainless steel has a wide range of mechanical properties and can withstand a wide range of temperatures. 300 Series Stainless steel alloys are used predominantly in:

-
Pharma & API process equipment (SS 316L)
-
Dairy, food & beverage plants (SS 304)
-
Furnace & heat-treatment components (SS 310)
-
Exhaust bellows & boiler casings (SS 321)
-
FGD & bleach washers (SS 317L)
-
Architecture, kitchens & general fabrication
