Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276 / DIN 2.4819) is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with tungsten, engineered for the most severe corrosive environments in industry. It is one of the few materials that withstands wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide, and it resists hot contaminated mineral acids, brine, and sour gas containing H₂S and chlorides — conditions where every stainless steel fails.

Its very low carbon and silicon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, allowing most fabrications to enter service as-welded.
